About Us
Hardcastle Burton was established in 1921 in London. The firm has since grown into a number of independent practices based in the northern home counties. Our Royston office opened in 1964 and currently accommodates five partners and around thirty staff. As an authorised training office, we train accountants for their professional examinations. In-house qualified independent financial advisers provide investment and pensions advice directly to clients. Our policy The relationship of any business to its advisors is fundamental to its success. Peter Homent
Peter Homent is senior partner at Royston and specialises in dealing with agricultural clients. He is a land developments and capital taxation specialist who heads the agricultural department. His role includes acting as expert witness on agricultural matters, providing executorship and trustee services, taxation advice and advising on business sales, aquisitions and reorganisations. Peter also has extensive commercial experience, having been executive director of two multinational groups. Peter qualified as a chartered accountant in 1977, becoming a partner in Hardcastle Burton in 1982. His hobbies and interests include country sports and historic motor vehicles.

Martin Law
Martin Law qualified as a chartered accountant in 1981, became a member of the Institute of Taxation three years later, and joined Hardcastle Burton in 1998. He was admitted as a partner in 2000. His experience extends to both large and small accountancy practices, in addition to three years as finance director of a recruitment and IT outsourcing company. He deals with a wide variety of general commercial clients and corporate finance assignments, and also advises clients of the Agricultural Department.

Keith Bouttell
Keith Bouttell is head of the firm's Financial Services Department and was admitted as a partner in 2004. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1996, joining Hardcastle Burton in the same year, and qualified as a financial adviser in 1998. His broad client base has a farming bias but he also deals with accounting and taxation matters for a variety of general commercial clients. Keith specialises in advising high net worth individuals on taxation, estate and financial planning including advising on the use and implication of trusts and completed the STEP diploma in December 2007. Members of STEP include the most experienced and senior practitioners in the field of trusts and estate, and this qualification recognises Keith's expertise in this area.

Denise Lindsell
Denise Lindsell was admitted as a partner in 2007, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant six years earlier, she also became a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation during 2007. As audit compliance partner she acts on behalf of audit clients in the manufacturing, construction industries and corporate hospitality sectors. In addition to general audit, accountancy and taxation compliance Denise advises on business exit strategies, sales and acquisitions. Other responsibilities include providing business support to a broad range of clients, advising on the implementation of the Construction Industry Scheme and tax mitigation strategies.

Jonathan Tulloch
Jonathan Tulloch joined Hardcastle Burton in 2002 having completed a degree in Agricultural Management at Wye College, Kent. During his time at Hardcastle Burton, Jonathan has worked closely with Peter Homent becoming a partner of the firm in 2010 with responsibility for managing the agricultural department. In addition to a mixed portfolio of small business clients, Jonathan enjoys advising clients in the Agricultural sector having come from a farming family in Hertfordshire. He recognises the potential changes required in the current agricultural climate and has therefore been able to assist clients with the restructuring of their businesses to improve profitability and tax efficiency.

Simon Halls
Simon Halls joined Hardcastle Burton in the early part of 2003 and is a fully qualified independent financial adviser. He possesses a great deal of experience and knowledge in pensions, investments and protection insurance, having worked in the field of employee benefits and financial planning since 1980. Simon is an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute and an Associate of the Society of Financial Advisers. Both qualifications place him at the very top of his profession, with the former being a qualification related to company pensions and employee benefits and the latter relating to all aspects of personal financial planning. This means that Simon is uniquely placed to be able to provide advice both to companies and to individuals.
